PS5, the next generation of the highly popular gaming console from Sony is about to make its way to your gaming room. A few weeks back, the company has unveiled the product that has a design not everyone likes. Some say, it is futuristic, some say, the design is bad. Whatever the case is, for me personally, it still looks pretty good to me. There were even bad designs in the past which the PS5 managed to overtake. It’s all about the perspective of the person looking at this next-generation console.
Having said that, today we are going to analyze the differences between the previous version of the Sony consoles highly sold all over the globe and is one of the best devices to enjoy gaming, the PS4 to the newly, less-likely (as it seems because of the design) PS5.
Design
As you already know, PS4 had a much sleek, slim, and plane design that resembles something rectangular from all the sides. While on the other hand, the PS5 is much bigger and seems like two side plates covering everything inside, more like a gaming tower. PS4 is smaller thus consuming less space making it much easier for anyone to place it almost everywhere. The flat design also contributes to the portability of the product. PS5 though has a much smoother design with two white plates on both sides covering the black inner area and consumes more space. So, yes, you cannot put it everywhere like you used to with PS4.
Apart from just the sizing, PS5 has a different kind of design that we are not yet used to. The gaming consoles don’t look like that. So, from a design point of view, the PS5 may not fit everywhere that you want to be in. You may have to make slight adjustments to your setup in order to incorporate the product with your current setup. According to Sony, you can still put the PS5 both vertically and horizontally with the help of the stands that come with the device. But still, the size of the product is a bit different and bigger than the PS4.
Performance
When it comes to performance, you can expect a huge improvement in the overall gameplay. As the PS5 will be coming with the AMD Zen 2-based CPU replacing the AMD Jaguar in the PS4, the performance will be impacted on a large scale at even the CPU level. The AMD Radeon GPU will be replaced with 10.28 TFLOPs, 36 CUs with variable frequencies providing ultra beautiful graphics on the games.
The PS5 will be coming with SSDs to improve the data access speeds replacing the 1TB HDD that came with the PS4 Pro variant. There will be a support for expandable USB HDD in the PS5 in case you wanna play some PS4 games that were in your PS4 device previously. While the PS4 was limited to 4K resolution, the PS5 will be coming with an 8K resolution.
Controller
Ps4 Controller Ps5
As we all know, Play Stations does come with the dual shock controllers which has one of the finest designs out there. The PS4 wasn’t an exception and had pretty amazing control over the games with perfectly placed buttons and a nice grip. The PS5 on the other hand made slight changes to the design of the controller, but with some extra features added such as the Haptic feedback that will replace the DualShock 4’s rumble technology which wasn’t so accurate for the player’s experience.
Additional features such as the Adaptive triggers, New ‘Create’ button, Audio jack, and a built-in microphone will also benefit the PS5 players. So, if the controller feels good in the hand, you are good to go with some additional perks compared to the previous generation of the Play Station gaming consoles.
Games
According to the developers and Sony, the games would look extremely real-life like in the PS5. The character model, animations, environment, everything will get a re-design to look much real. So, what does this mean to the availability of the games? Well, according to them, most of the games available on the PS4 devices will be available on the PS5 as well. They even have some exclusive changes to the PS5 version of the games such as the Spider-man Miles Morales.

Price
Sony hasn’t revealed the price of the PS5 yet. From a company that advertised the PS4 with its cheapness compared to the features it provides, it was a bit disappointing for the users to cop with the surprise in the pricing. There are no official announcements yet about the pricing of the PS5 yet, though analysts predicted that the pricing could be somewhere around $499. The PS4 Pro was priced at $399.
Opinion
Ps4 Remote Play Ps5
So, as far as we know, the PS5 will have some pretty excellent pieces of hardware inside even though not everyone likes the design. For a hardcore gamer, the performance of the product matters more than the design itself. I am not saying that you would consider an ugly looking console to place in your living room. But after all, it isn’t that bad. When compared to the PS4, the size has increased exponentially which might be a problem to fit it everywhere. So, we will have to wait for the company to announce the price of the PS5 to have an accurate comparison taking into consideration the price of both products and the features they provide.
